REPAIR LG G3 SIM CARD READER CONNECTOR
LG G3 Sim Card Reader Repair Replacement Fix Guide For Damaged Broken Pins Solution
This guide will help you understand why your LG G3 is not detecting your micro sim card.
The most common cause of this issue on the device is the use of a nano sim card with an adapter.
If you have been using a nano sim inserted into a micro sim adapter, in most cases the sim card will fit into your device and it will read and work fine.
However when the sim card is removed, it will catch on the pins of the sim card reader. If force is used to pull the sim card out this will also damage the pins.
Here is a basic guide to show you the process involved in replacing the sim card reader on the LG G3.
The picture below shows that the sim card reader connector is damaged if you look closely you can see that the pins are missing or damaged.
STEP : 1 INSERT SIM CARD ADAPTER
For testing purposes we are going to insert a known working sim card from another device into here and see what happens when the phone is powered on.
It is now powered on and the phone shows NO SIM CARD – EMERGENCY CALLS ONLY it also has a sim card icon on the top right corner with a red cross next to it. This means that the phone is not recognising a sim card.
STEP : 2 REPLACING SIM CARD READER MODULE
Now we are going to inspect the sim card reader connector module, it is soldered directly onto the motherboard as a surface mounted component. It will need removing using a hot air station and a new sim card reader module will need to be soldered onto the board.
You should remove it carefully to avoid damaging the welding memory card reader
STEP : 3 ASSEMBLING AND TESTING BASE MODULE CARDS
We have successfully removed the sim card reader module and put the phone back together.
We are going to insert a sim card and micro SD memory card into the connector module
Both cards (SIM + Memory) have been inserted and now we are going to power the device up
STEP : 4 FINISHC CORRECT TESTING CARD MEMORY
We are going to access the settings menu and go to general > storage and see if the device is also detecting the memory card.
As shown, the device is also reading the memory card.
We can fix this problem for you.
We offer both postal repair services and walk in repair services for this type of device.
